About

AAMI Park is one of Australia’s premier rectangular venues, notably acclaimed for hosting Melbourne’s most celebrated sport and entertainment events.

The Stadium is home to a range of professional sporting teams, including Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City (Football), Melbourne Storm (Rugby League) and Melbourne Rebels (Rugby Union).

It also gives concertgoers a truly intimate experience, having hosted iconic acts such as the Foo Fighters, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Bruce Springsteen, Queen and Adam Lambert and Elton John.

AAMI Park is capable of hosting world-class sporting events and live productions, with unmatched facilities and expert support from the venue’s operations team, while boasting award-winning sports-turf for all an array of sporting codes.

The venue features a cutting-edge bio-frame design, with a geodesic dome roof that substantially covers the seating area, with guests enjoying completely unobstructed views, free from pillars, walls or other support structures, with an unparalleled atmosphere to match.

Located on the exterior of the roof is a LED lighting system that enables the Stadium to display numerous patterns and colours.

Melbourne & Olympic Parks acknowledges the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation as Traditional Owners of the land on which Rod Laver Arena is located and recognise their ongoing connection to this land, and rich culture. We pay respects to their Elders past, present and future.

Our history

The $190 million development of a new rectangular stadium was announced by the Victorian Government in 2006, and the venue opened in 2010 on the site of Edwin Flack Field (named for Australia’s first Olympian).
